Handmade crafts just beading along! I already did a whole batch of crochet fingerless gloves but I knew in the pits of my tummy that it would not be long before the little beads would demand a place and a space in this wintry faze of hand warmers and winter comforters. And so this page is dedicated to showing my new range of beaded fingerless gloves.
As with most handmade items, a bit of loving care will ensure the longevity and optimal upkeep of the piece.
The crystal beads have been worked into the cuff of this pair of fingerless gloves. I love beads, I love crystals, I LOVE Bling - and to me, this adds a touch of something more unique and elegant to a pair of warming fingerless gloves.
I have included a section of the close up, showing the stitch incorporating the crystal beads.
Here is a full close-up of the beads worked into the gloves. This is a crochet stitch. This, as you can see, is worked in 2 separate kinds of yarn. The main yarn (light blue) is too thick for the holes in the beads. So I have used a thinner yarn and strung the beads there. Once I determine the number of stitches I need for the gloves, I can work out the number of beads I need per row.
Note: When stringing the beads, you need to string the beads in reverse order of use - so the pinks are strung up before the greens as the work is done from cuff to top of gloves (fingers-end).
I made use of this crochet stitch. This is from a very old Japanese crochet book I have. Looking at this stitch, I realized that I could use the second (pick-up) stitch not just in a different color of yarn but in a yarn that is suitable for threading beads. This way, I can incorporate beads into the stitch.
A number of the following gloves will use this same stitch to incorporate different beads.

Using the same crochet stitch for beads, this pair of gloves is embedded with pearl beads throughout.
Here I have used a metallic purple soft yarn to be the contrasting thread on which the pearls are strung. All the beads are crocheted into the gloves and worked in the round.

Using the same crochet stitch for beads, this pair of gloves is created in soft wool yarn in pastel shades which is enhanced with the use of bright Fuchsia crystal beads.
I do love the color of these fuchsia beads and have been waiting a while to use them. Here they perfectly complement the yarn - which is an extra soft yarn.

Again working with crochet stitch for beads, this pair of gloves is delightfully refreshing. Soft pale yellow yarn enhanced with bright sunshine yellow, strung with pearls.

A lacy, dark, and romantically glamorous pair of dark blue fingerless gloves with iridescent beads.
In this pair of beaded fingerless gloves, the iridescent beads are strung directly onto the yarn and crochet-beaded at appropriate places. The holes in this size 6/0 beads are large enough to accommodate stringing onto the yarn itself.

A stately and elegant beaded crochet fingerless gloves with faux fur. A delightfully sturdy pair of gloves that transforms into clear Elegance when worn. Made with light silver gray cotton yarn and beaded with vintage iridescent beads (from the 1970's-80's).
In this pair of beaded fingerless gloves, the vintage iridescent beads are strung directly onto the yarn and crochet-beaded at the base and top of the gloves.
First step is to determine the number of stitches you will need. Then, as the piece is worked from base to top, you should thread the appropriate number of beads, counting from top to bottom. (Note: in this instance, it is not important as I have used the same beads throughout. Just make sure you bead enough beads for an entire glove - otherwise you might have to cut the yarn, thread more beads - which will make the glove a bit "messy").
The fur yarn is crocheted on separately after the piece is finished.

This pair of fingerless gloves is so charming and yet so casual. This pair of fingerless gloves is fitting and snug. This pair of fingerless gloves is classic yet contemporary. Its a Winner!
This pair of gloves is made with much finer yarn than any I have used thus far. This means much more work but also gives you more definition and definitely more delicate detail. The beads are chosen to produce a contemporary classic feel: iridescent clear glass seed beads (about size 8 or 10) and edged with sparkly black AB hex seed beads.
For this set of gloves, you need to pre-determine how many stitches will be needed. Here I have 51 stitches for the body of the gloves, worked with Clover crochet hook, size 0.
Next, you determine where the beads will be and then you thread, from top to bottom (as the work will be done from bottom to top).
The last row of beads threaded - the black AB hex seed beads - I have threaded (51+25) beads to create the flare at the bottom that I want.
Start the piece from bottom to top - the first step being to chain stitch all the (51+25 = 76) beads. Join into a round, making sure that there is no twisting.
The image above shows the stitch for the first row. This will decrease the number of stitches from 76 to 51 stitches. Then work 51 stitches per round, throughout.

Though this yarn which I got from America many years ago (and never knew what to do with it till now) is not the most delightful yarn I have ever worked with, it is PERFECT as far as the final result produced. It has a slight stretch to it so that when worn, the gloves fits ... well, it fits like a glove! It hugs the hands giving it s perfect fit.

Soft, bright, and cherry - this pair of woolen fingerless gloves is crocheted with crystals and pearls.
In the photo above, I have used a black glove inside so that the stitches and pattern are more clearly defined.
Pearl and crystal beads have been crocheted into the work using the Crochet Stitch for beads shown above.

A Luxurious pair of handmade fingerless gloves with solid sparkle balanced with the green of Mother Earth. A pronounced flare at the base gives the gloves an extra feminine elegance.
As I move along, I get braver and am incorporating larger crystals and sparkle into the gloves.
This pair of gloves is made with much fine viscose yarn that has a bit of stretchiness to it. The crystal beads (4mm) definitely give this piece more body and solid charm and sparkle.
The last row of beads threaded - the pearly green (Ceylon) seed beads - I have threaded (51+25) beads to create the flare at the bottom that I want.
Note that these instructions are very similar to that given for Daily Charm fingerless gloves above.
As I use this yarn more and more, I realize how wonderful this stretchy viscose yarn is. Because of the slight stretch in the yarn, when worn, the gloves will perfectly hug the hands, producing a deliciously sexy and professional look.

A true celebration in Bright Joy and Ladylike Elegance - this Tangerine Madness pair of handmade gloves is a joyful exuberance of bright colors, funky sparkles, and a looking forward to warmer clime while being splendiferously luxurious in the winter season.
I feel at last I have moved into the big leagues - all in my mind of course, but then, so is my world!
After the endless pairs of gloves I have made and sold this year, I am finally confident in combining SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS into the world - and oh, what a pleasure and joy it is to see the brightness of colours and the depth of fire and sparkle that only Swarovski can bring.
Again, this pair of gloves is made in fine, stretch viscose yarn - providing the final perfect fit for the wearer.
I have used the newly released Swarovski Neon Orange crystal pearls which is crochet in, all round for the cuff. It is also used exclusively on the back. For the front of the gloves, I have chosen to combine the beautifully bright Neon Orange pearls with a smattering of Swarovski colored crystal beads, giving it a light-enhanced dimension that only the flashes of Swarovski brilliance can endow.
In this close-up photo above, I have made the image a tat lighter so that some of the stitches are more discernible. In reality, the black is blacker than this - a true black.
For this set of gloves, I have used 46 stitches for the body. To create the flare, I chain-stitched (46+23=) 69 Toho (sz 11) seed beads around and decreased to 46 stitches on the first row using the pattern-stitch below:
Most of the instructions are similar to that given in Daily Charm fingerless gloves above. Remember always, when threading on your beads before the start of the work - you will need to thread on the beads you will use at the end, first so that the last beads you thread on will be the beads you will be using first.

This is my very favourite to date. It is totally infused with Swarovski XILION cut crystals and Toho beads. Not only do the Swarovski crystals give this an immense and incredible luxury sparkle, but the very weight and feel of it is Delicious! Like Sheer Heaven!
I love it when, after many days or months of play and experiment and creating, that I "take the plunge" so to speak, and create using my precious beloved materials - be it Swarovski Elements or some long hoarded gemstones. Here I decided to truly indulge with crocheting in Swarovski sparkly crystals, and the result has truly been worth it. It has taken the functionaly fingerless gloves into a sphere of sheer luxury, sexiness, and firelight of sparkles.
Again, this pair of gloves is made in fine, stretch viscose yarn - providing the final perfect fit for the wearer. It will hug and cling to the hands like a lover.
I originally thought of using 3mm bicones but decided to go with 4mm. And though I believe that the 3mm will produce a delectable result, the result here is supremely satisfying. I have chosen to use the Silk AB Swarovski XILION bicone beads as well as my beloved Alexandrite AB crystals.
This closeup here shows the edging (chain-stitch with beads) done in Toho iridescent Rose seed beads (size 11).
